Running Costs

Vintage gliders unfortunately take time & money to keep in the air. While annual maintenance is largely a volunteer affair we have to pay for repair or refurbishment work, as well as the usual costs of hangearage and insurance. If you want to help us keep running (or maybe have enjoyed a flight as a passenger) you can donate via our Go-Fund-me page below.

Future Funding

While we may not be planning anything as grand as the Gilding Heritage Centrc (pictured above) our vision is to build a permanent home for an Air Cadet collection of aircraft, vehicles & equipment. This will allow us to maintain & preserve our gliders in flying condition as well as giving somewhere we can use to educate and inform aspiring pilots, engineers and enthusiasts.

Join Us

“Family”

This is the “Full” membership of the Historic Flight, allowing you to fly as PIC (if suitably qualified), PUT(for checkouts) or Passenger in our aircraft. You pay an annual membership fee & launch fees

“Friends”

Our friends membership is for those who want to support our work. You receive regular newsletters and are welcome to come visit when we are flying.

Pilot Members

Suitably qualified “Family” members who want to be able to fly the gliders as PIC pay an additional one-off joining fee. Flying PIC for qualified pilots is subject to recency, check flights and CFI or Historic Flight Instructor approval.

Requirements

Everyone flying in our gliders must have some form of membership of the BGGC. Members of other BGA clubs can fly as reciprocal members, others can fly as Guest or Temporary members under BGGC rules. Note we do not provide “ab initio” training.
