Running Costs
Vintage gliders unfortunately take time & money to keep in the air. While annual maintenance is largely a volunteer affair we have to pay for repair or refurbishment work, as well as the usual costs of hangarage and insurance. If you want to help us keep running (or maybe have enjoyed a flight as a passenger) you can donate via our Go-Fund-me page below.
Future Plans
While we may not be planning anything as grand as the Gilding Heritage Centre (pictured here) our vision is to build a permanent home for an Air Cadet collection of aircraft, vehicles & equipment. This will allow us to maintain & preserve our gliders in flying condition as well as giving somewhere we can use to educate and inform aspiring pilots, engineers and enthusiasts.
Join Us
If you wish to support our aims, why not join us as a Member or Associate? We welcome all, and if you are able to volunteer to help in our operations, maintenance or other activities such as planning, management or fund raising, you are especially welcome.
“Member”
“Full” membership of the ACHF CIO means you become a voting member of the ACHF. As well as (optionally) helping us maintain & operate the gliders, you may fly as PIC (if suitably qualified), or Passenger in our aircraft. You pay an annual membership fee to us & BGGC fees if you wish to fly.
“Associate”
Our Associate membership is for our friends who want to support our work. You receive regular newsletters and are welcome to come on a scheduled visit and see the gliders. You pay an annual membership fee which supports the running costs of the collection.
Pilots
Suitably qualified ACHF Members who wish to fly our gliders solo pay an additional annual fee. Flying PIC for qualified pilots is subject to BGA/CAA requirements including recency, check flights and CFI or ACHF Instructor approval. Note we do not provide “ab initio” training – pilots must already have relevant qualifications
